Richmond is 99 miles northeast, Raleigh is 56 miles south and Roanoke Rapids is 33 miles east. Interstate 85 is only 3 miles away at exit 229, Interstate 95 is 30 miles east. Three major highways intersect in town; U.S. Highway 1, N.C. Highway 158 & N.C. Highway 401.
We are also located only 8 miles south of the great Kerr & Gaston Lakes Reservoirs, which not only provides our water supply, but is also a wonderful vacation resort. Our town is rich in history, with well established homes, quiet streets, and quant buildings from another century.
